Happy Monday. “The Christ of the galaxies is the Christ of your Mondays. You have a friend in high places.” –Max Lucado

How blessed I feel I am because I was enrolled in Sunday School at a very young age, therefore, exposed to eternal truths.

When I learned at about age four that “God is love” (1 John 4:8b), it didn’t impact me greatly, except I could recite it. Wow!

The first song I remember was “Jesus loves me, this I know.” Just a happy song to sing.

However, at age nine, at the end of my pastor’s sermon, I walked the aisle of my church. Dr. D. D. Sumrall, shook my hand and welcomed me into the “family of God.” The truths I had known in my head transferred to my heart.

Years came and went; schooling, marriage, children, life! Many times the melody faded, but the truth was always there.

There have been mountain tops along the way. There have been deep valleys, but if I stopped to listen, I could hear, “God is love.” “Jesus loves me, this I know.”

I haven’t always felt lovable! You know, the times when even the dog won’t lick your hand? Maybe you are there today.

By faith, I still know “Jesus loves me.”

This weekend was a happy time as I went with my daughter Becky and son-in-law Tim to Kingston, Oklahoma for their granddaughter’s high school graduation—my great granddaughter! (How did this happen?)

I am comforted to know that as Bethany leavers her pastor daddy and her sweet mom for college, she can, along with her generation, have the same truths—simple, yet so profound.

I am reminded of some of the most sane words I know, which were discovered on the walls of an asylum.medium_5653503758

“Could we with ink the ocean fill
And were the skies of parchment made
And every stalk on earth a quill
And every man a scribe by trade.
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry,
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky.”
What powerful thoughts for life.

But if I were asked, “What is the most profound truth to you?” I would have to say, “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”

  3. Mrs. Hyles … thanks for the true north of our lives in Christ, we can get so loaded with the cares of this world that it is hard to see the beautiful rays of the Father’s Love refracting through the clouds around us with that promise of That Day …when all tears shall be wiped away. His love shines through you.

  10. So thankful and blessed by your Monday thoughts! It is so important to teach our children God’s Word when they are young! Your examples in today’s thoughts are proof that, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Pr. 22:6. There is comfort, wisdom and guidance in being able to recall God’s Word and songs which we have learned so long ago! Thank you for sharing your heart with us today!
