Happy Monday. “Answer the big question of eternity, and the little questions of life fall into perspective.”
I had the opportunity last Sunday to sing in one of our adult Sunday School departments.
When I was invited, I began to ponder “what is the message needed?”
I took a little walk down “memory lane” and realized, you don’t live many years until you find that “life happens.”
And that infamous question arises in life.
“Why?”
None of us escapes the pain, the rejections, the hurts.
Somehow I always thought, “But it gets easier as we mature.”
Then we add more family and friends to our circle and we take on their illnesses, heartbreaks, and losses as well as our own.
Again, and with more perplexity the question comes.
“Why?”
As the years began to add up, I thought, “It’s smooth sailing from here on.”
Only to find, diagnoses become more serious and deaths even come knocking. I finally concluded we live in a broken, suffering world.
And the same question invaded my being.
“Why?”
The right song came to my mind, the chorus of which says:
“We’ll talk it over in the bye and bye—
We’ll talk it over, my Lord and I.
I’ll ask the reason, He’ll tell me why,
When we talk it over in the bye and bye.”
And I added this chorus:
“So until then, my heart will go on singing
Until then, with joy I’ll carry on—
Until the day my eyes behold my Saviour
Until the day God calls me home.”
“God never said the journey would be easy, but he did say the arrival will be worthwhile.”

I remember hearing this song being played on our record player as I was growing up. I’m so thankful for how good music has helped me through some rough times in life. Thank you for reminding us of this song and your thoughts for today.

Someone forwarded this to my brother-in-law, Johnny Esposito, who forwarded it to me wanting to be an encouragement during a very difficult time, and it is an encouragement. Thank you. On several times over the last 12 days I have thought of you Mrs. Hyles, and how gracefully you suffered the illness and home-going of your husband. Just that memory encourages me to do the same through the path on which God is presently leading us – through God’s grace. God is good all the time, all the time – God is good.

Once again, straight to the heart, but with love. And again with music! Love your posts, Mrs. Hyles! Just took Dr. and Mrs. Evans to the airport today to fly back to Chicago. They come here every October. They are so fun, and bring back so many good memories for us of Hyles-Anderson College, and our many friends there. Love you, and appreciate your love and friendship all these years.

It was over seventeen years ago that I heard Bro. Hyles say in one of his sermons, “even the Son of God asked, Why?” I think about that often when I need an answer to the question, “Why?” And “praise the Lord,” we’ll get to talk it over in the “sweet by and by.”

All of history can be summed up with two words: Opportunities with Difficulties. God put us in our time compartment to see what we would do with Jesus. Two goals: Birth into the family by faith and growth by faith to help others in the family.
Ephesians 2:7 answers the ultimate why. When time is all over Jesus will pour out grace for eternity. Now that is beyond my comprehension. http://jesusbook.me/

Thank you, Mrs. Hyles, I needed these thoughts today. Yesterday we buried a dear lady who served alongside her husband in the ministry for over 40 years. They were married 52 years. Her family has suffered one tragic heartbreak after another during the past several years and all of us around them asked the question “Why?” over and over again. God´s grace has been, not only sufficient, but overwhelmingly obvious in their family. Their testimony has been powerful. Knowing God knows, and knowing that in His time, He will answer that gnawing question, brings comfort to a wondering heart. thank you for reminding me of Heaven. God bless you, I love you.
