Happy Monday. I’m pulling for you!

Already a week has passed into that new year. Did you set some goals? Some call them resolutions.

How are you doing?medium_5756196362

Goals should always be something we have before us to keep life interesting, no matter the age. Caleb was in his eighties when he claimed the mountain that was his.

After eating everything that wasn’t “nailed down” during the holidays, I set a goal (among others) to get back to the delicious fruits and veggies that tend to healthier bodies. I realize anew that my body is where God dwells; it belongs to Him.

Exercise is also on my agenda. I feel “smug” today because I have already had a walk. Goals don’t work unless I do.

Many times we won’t set a new goal for fear of failing.

It’s important to remember that “failing” doesn’t make one a “failure.” The greatest calamity is not to fail, but to fail to try.

Failures are temporary. I recently read these facts about the late President Harry Truman.

In 1922 at age thirty eight, he was in debt and out of a job. In 1945, twenty-three years later, he was the most powerful leader in the free world.

He knew that failing was not a “life sentence.”

Paul so eloquently stated, “This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind…I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling.”

So should we!

Some thoughts I gleaned from author John Maxwell’s book Dare to Dream:

  1. The first two letters in the word goal are “go.”
  2. Some people dream of worthy accomplishments while others wake up and do them.
  3. Anyone who brags about what he’s going to do tomorrow probably did the same thing yesterday.

Let’s cheer each other on as we go higher in this race called “Life.”

  1. Dear Mrs. Hyles,
Thanks, I really needed this today. What I love most about your posts is that they are so practical. They are not unattainable aspirations. Thank you for reminding me that my failures do not make me a failure. May 2014 be most blessed for you. Much Love.

  2. Thank you Mrs. Hyles for reminding me that just because I fail I am not a failure. I forget that sometimes. With health limitations not being able to do what I see others doing. Would you be able to share with us some of your holiday traditions that bring joy to you each year? God bless you and love ya lots. Mrs. Lee Ann Gray
