Happy Monday. Keep walking.
There has been much in the news lately about wildfires burning in the West. People have lost homes, acres of land have been incinerated, and smoke is clouding the horizon.
How sad to hear reports of people rummaging through charred remains of what was their home, for some irreplaceable moments.
The most prevalent remark I hear is, “We are alive and we can always rebuild.”
Good for them!
It reminds me of a quote from author and theologian, Dr. James Richards. “It is not the intensity of the pain, but the significance you attach to it that determines the effect.”
He is saying that in the trial, we awaken to what is really important. That gives us the right perspective, which brings hope back.
In my acquaintance are sweet people whom I consider to be in the “furnace of affliction.”
There are some broken relationships, broken health, broken hearts, broken dreams.
Are you there?
Days ago, as I was reading again the account of the three Hebrew boys being thrown into the fiery furnace, something jumped out to me.
Daniel 3: 25 says they were “walking in the midst of the fire and they have no hurt.”
Think about it. It was seven times hotter than normal, perhaps they were facing death, but kept walking!
And One came to walk with them!
They came out with not a hair singed or even the smell of smoke on them.
And the very king who ordered the furnace, promoted them.
I believe that when we keep walking, even in the hot, trying times, a promotion always comes–a new knowledge of the One Who also walks with us in our fires and a steadfast faith that with Him, we are more than conquerors.
“The road is too rough,” I said,
“It is uphill all the way:
No flowers, but thorns instead
And the skies overhead are grey.”
But One took my hand at the entrance dim,
And sweet is the road that I walk with Him.
Let Him take you by the hand today.

Many years ago we heard your husband Pastor Hyles preach and met him briefly what blessing he was, my husband and I came to Pastors school there in1978 We are still married 44 years in Sept this reminds me of God’s amazing grace.We have indeed been in the fire many times,thank you Mrs.Hyles for reminding me of how our Father walks with us each step of the way.Thank you for your faithfulness and God bless you.This morning I listened to Fresh oil and renewed by it

This was beautiful and brilliant. Great thought to keep on walking in the fire. That is just like something your husband would pull out and preach a whole sermon on. Now we know where he got all those great nuggets. 🙂

Thank you so much for the reminder that there is one who always walks with us if we allow him to do so. I know he is always with me, but sometimes I fail to acknowledge him.Those are the times I get myself into great trouble.
