Happy Monday.

Do you have a goal today? Perhaps just to make it? You can you know!

I have been thinking of the story in the news recently of a small plane crash in which four members in one family perished. One little seven-year-old girl survived.

I have tried to imagine what she encountered in order to get to safety.

She certainly had to put fear aside as she climbed out of the wreckage, leaving her dead parents inside.

A dark night, no lights anywhere, and an unfamiliar wooded area lay ahead.

Injuries brought pain and no shoes and light clothing made her feel the cold of 30 degrees plus.

One painful step at a time for nearly a mile brought the sight of lights on in a house and safety.

What courage she had, but she is now being thought of as a survivor.

Wouldn’t you like to have that said of you? I don’t really mean to have overcome a catastrophic event–but just life itself. A survivor!

It’s more than just “muddling” through I believe; but living each day with the goal of finishing well and hearing, “Well done.”

How do we reach that? One event, one day, one step at a time.

I read a very interesting account of a writer of stories. He said, “I write the last lines first and then I find myself imageswriting backwards to see what happens to get to the finish.”

Think that through. How do we want our story to end?

Today is part of that final chapter.

Maybe today will bring struggles; don’t lose hope. You might quit just short of receiving a long delayed answer to prayer.

  2. Mrs. Hyles, wanted to let Rose Shepherd know I will be praying for her. Went thru same situation with my dad 43 years ago. He too was lost, had to go into a place to be cared for, and died without knowing Christ as his Savior. It is difficult to get thru, but just keep winning other dads to the Lord. That has helped me thru the years. I just know our Lord will be coming back for us very soon.

  3. I am sitting here in the VA HOSPITAL waiting on my husband who is at an eye appointment. I was in the hallway reading your post and looked up to see a gentleman walking with much effort to take each step. As I sat here and watched for a few minutes he passed by me and on down the long hallway. He is making it and I can make it in life too! Thank you for your post and thank The Lord for His help each day! I really believe that God has a special purpose for that little girl’s life and He was guiding her that night, even as He will through her grief.

  4. This is a very timely reminder for me!! This week my Dad is having a hospice assessment to see if he is a candidate for that. He has had a sharp decline in recent days. This is a difficult time physically and emotionally, but most difficult spiritually since we have no assurance that he is saved. His mental condition holds out no hope of his taking any step of faith now. I would appreciate your prayers for us! Many thanks for these words of encouragement and hope.

  5. Good morning Mrs. Hyles. The last comment of your blog reads, “DURING TRYING TIMES, KEEP TRYING.” Lately my life has been full of trying times! Sometimes hard trying to keep my chin up. I draw strength from your blog each week. Please keep writing them, you are helping more people than you know. Back to THE CHIN, well my chin anyhow. I find some days that I have to break the 24 hour span down into sections of 2 to 4 hours at a time and do whatever it takes to keep my chin up for that length of time. This is why I thank you so much for your blog today. I too heard about the little girl and the plane crash. As I thought about all it took for her to make it to the house with the light, than I know I can make it to and thru each length of time I set for myself every day. Thank you so much for the reminder. Take care, God bless and have a great day. Mrs. Lee Ann Gray
