Happy Monday! I hope it is beginning to look and feel like spring where you are. Maybe you would like to rush it?
I have two potted geraniums on my back patio, full of buds, with a little of the bright red peeking through. My tendency is to go help those buds open so I can really enjoy the blooms. But do you know what? I would ruin the end result with my impatience.
Isn’t that like life? I am trained to want instant gratification. But how can faith grow that way? Or character?
In Ecclesiastes 3 God tells us through wise Solomon that “To every thing there is a season…” and in verse 11 he says, “He hath made everything beautiful in his time” (emphasis mine).
Some of my prayers of supplication have been prayed for a long time, it seems to me. Like a little child I say, “I want it now!” Then I hear from Psalm 46:10 to “Be still…and know that I am God”—Who is a very present help. Right now, He is working.
But He will not force the bud to open before time. Isaiah 30:14a says, “And therefore will the Lord wait that he may be gracious unto you.” And the last of that verse says, “…blessed are all they that wait for him.”
Is that thing you so want too long in coming? Has He ever failed to come through? Lamentations 3:5 says, “The Lord is good unto them that wait for him,” and then the word says we are to “hope and quietly wait for the Lord.”
The chorus to a song I used to sing goes like this:
“In His time, in His time,
He makes all things beautiful in His time.
Lord, please show me every day
As you’re teaching me your way
That you do just what you say
In your time.”
The end result can be glorious, if we “hope and quietly wait.”
I love you Mrs. Hyles! So happy to learn from you! As a junior age girl and teenager I remember watching you from the chior and admiring what a wonderful lady you were to our church, to Bro. Hyles and to all those who knew you! I have thought about you often and will look forward to seeing new things here each week!

A very dear friend sent me this today, 4-2-13 and I was so thrilled to sign up for the “Monday with Beverly Hyles”! I had gotten to talk with you at Carl Hatch’s funeral and it had been quite awhile since I last saw you. I believe it was at the Spectacular in 1990! In the early 80’s you had signed a small Bible of mine in Omaha, NE at a Proverbs 31 Conference. Mrs John R Rice also signed, and her daughter MaryLloys Himes. Mrs Lee Roberson signed beneath her . Just the other day I was thinking about you and looked at that Bible to see where you signed and was wishing I knew what was going on for you now. I pray every once in awhile for you and remember the many times Brother Hyles was at Midwestern Baptist Church where our pastor is Ken Bentley. I am praising the Lord that now I will be getting your Bloggs that I truly need!

A couple years back i planted Easter Lily bulbs that were left over from Easter. The following spring nothing happened until around June/July. I thought it was a fluke of some sort, but the next year the same thing happened. My discovery was interesting to me because the “Easter” Lily is quite a tradition. In reality, where I live, the Easter Lily doesn’t bloom in natural conditions until mid-summer. Life doesn’t always go the way we expect it to happen or how it has always been presented, but God’s promises are true and they do come to pass in their own time. Amazing how God’s uses the simplest things to teach about Himself. Thank you for sharing your wisdom through this blog. God has given you a voice.

Mrs. Hyles, I love you! and I miss you. 😉
I was talking with a friend’s mom and one of her friends, and she said she remembers you from when she had worked at a bank in Hammond (many years ago), and said you always looked so beautiful. I said, “Yes, that was definitely her.” 😉 You made a beautiful impression on a lot of the local ladies in Hammond. Even though she was a Catholic woman, she still highly admired and looked up to you.
Sending lots of love to you. Sherry Wittig

Dear Mrs. Hyles,
My name is Keaston Edwards. You have never met me or seen me before in my life. I graduated from Hyles-Anderson College in 2012. I heard so much about you through my pastor. I never had the chance of hearing your husband preach in person. I have heard other great men in person except Dr. Jack Hyles. I have alot of his books and his sermons on CD. Thank you for posting that. These past four months God has been teaching me about patience. I needed it. You are an inspiration to me and many out there. I hope I get to meet you one day. God bless.
Sincerely,

What a delight to see you back to influence our Christian ladies. Oh, but us men as well. Mary and I have often prayed for you and have always appreciated your sweet spirit. Bro. Hyles was loved by so many and one of the reasons was that there was a great Christian lady giving him encouragement. You are a
blessing and we are looking forward to a weekly Monday visit with you. God bless you!

Thank you so much, Mrs. Hyles, for these words of wisdom! In this day and age, everything is geared for “instant results”! It’s so hard sometimes to wait, it’s so hard to wait for His perfect timing and remembering He knows best, in everything! Those “instant results” usually don’t turn out to be what’s best! Thank you so much for the reminder!

Thank you for this; I have tried many times to “make things happen” and like pulling the roses apart, it just doesn’t work. I needed this reminder to “let go and let God”. My daughter, Cari; graduated from HAC in the 80’s. It seems like yesterday that my friend and I drove away from the college with tears and a very heavy heart. We lived in N. D. at the time and it was so far away. I praise the Lord for the time she spent there and all that she learned. Now she is the wife of Kerry Neufed who pastors at Mile High Baptist Church in Denver. We are so proud of them both. Blessings to you and yours. Maryln Rose = Bonita Springs, Fl. We are members of Gospel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hyles, you do not know me, but I just wanted to let you know that your husband was an inspiration to me as a young preacher many years ago. I attended Pastor’s School the first time in 1979. and it was such a blessing. I took members of the church I was pastor of at the time for several years in a row, and they were greatly encouraged as well. My daughter, Amy Bryant Brewer, went to Pastor’s School with us in 1989, and told me, “Dad, this is where God wants me to attend college.” She graduated with honors in 1993, and was married to John Brewer, who is also a Hyles Anderson graduate, the next Friday night at Peoples Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, TX. I believe that only eternity will reveal the full impact that you and Dr. Hyles had upon the lives of God’s servants. Keep looking up, the Lord Jesus is coming with a shout! God bless you, and may you keep on keeping on for Christ! Sincerely in Christ, John T. Bryant, Jr – Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Portland, TX.
