Happy Monday. “This too shall pass.”
Whatever “this” is, it’s only for a time. But we often cry “how long?”
At this time I am awaiting the results of medical tests for someone I love. I want them now!
In this day of “instant every thing” we want a quick fix.
One of my verses I have clung to since I was a teen is Psalms 37:7 which says, “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him.”
In these years I have surely learned patience, don’t you think? Sorry. My clock doesn’t seem to beat on God’s timetable.
And His time is always correct.
My favorite Bible character, Joseph, must be the one, at least to me, who exemplifies what it means to “rest” and “wait patiently.”
The plan from his boyhood was to get Joseph to Egypt where he would save the known world at that time from starvation.
You know the many pitfalls, trials, deceptions he endured. I want to say, “Joseph, why didn’t you just throw in the towel?”
He didn’t have James 1:3: “Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” But he lived it. What a man!
Perhaps you feel today God has forgotten you, the time is dragging on.
May I suggest, His timer is set and when it goes off, the answer will come.
Charles Spurgeon asks, “Will not the Lord’s time be better than your time?”
Elisabeth Elliot, wife of a missionary savagely killed years ago in Ecuador, said, “We must move according to the timetable of the timeless One and be at peace.”
Living this way, she ultimately saw the very man who slew her husband gloriously saved.
Quoting from Spurgeon again, “By his wisdom, he orders his delays so that they prove far better than our hurries.”
The Psalmist said, “I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.”
Should we not keep in mind that God is in no hurry?

A long time ago at HAC, I came to you with an “urgent’ PROBLEM! You listened carefully, as always! When I explained the big problem, you paused, and replied, “Let’s just see what the LORD will do!” Thank you for your timeless advice…HE never says “Oh, Oh”!

I remember a long time ago when I came to you with a big problem in Hylander Wives! I was so concerned how to “fix it”! Your timeless advice–“Let’s just see what the Lord will do!” Of course, HE did, and problem solved. Thank you for the reminder. Love you!

Thank you Mrs. Hyles for yet another great thought for Monday. I am old enough to remember when instant coffee came on the market. My father-in-law, who is in Heaven now, called it “innocent coffee.” He always wondered why people complained about instant coffee, but drank it anyway. With all the complaints people just just went along and drank it anyway. I am afraid I am that way sometimes. I want instant everything too. Thank you for reminding me with your lesson on Joseph. Wow, wow, wow! This blog was spot on for me today! Hearing about Elisabeth Elliott and how she was able to see the man, who savagely kill her husband, come to Christ… I would hope that I loved Christ that much to not want to see anyone die and go to hell! That alone was so convicting! Thank you so much for posting this today!
