Happy Monday. I truly hope it is happy!

I just completed a little painting of a barn scene. I love old barns (I love anything old, me included).

I can tell you it looks like a summer day with a few clouds just for atmosphere. Trees still have leaves of summer and it looks peaceful.

It’s amazing what can be accomplished with some oil paint, brushes, and a canvas.medium_6281263163

Listen to this quote:

“Attitude is the mind’s paintbrush; it can color any situation.”

Don’t you love that? Or do you not believe it?

Perhaps this isn’t the best Monday you’ve had, but could changing your attitude make it brighter?

No, the circumstances won’t be eliminated, but the dread might be.

Another quote by “anonymous” but could have been from Paul in prison:

“Fear knocked at the door. Faith answered. No one was there.”

It seems to me that many days are ruined by just a strange foreboding, a worry, or fear.

I just learned this acrostic on fear:

False
Evidence
Appearing
Real

Doesn’t that define it well? Most often the things we dread or fear never happen at all.

Some ways to change our attitude today and any day it’s needed:

Focus on today. Refuse to look back. God has put this day in front of you, complete with challenges and provision to meet them.

Focus on the positive. Whatever you might be facing, you have His help.

Focus on a promise. As your days, so shall your strength be.

At the end of the day, look back and realize you “painted” the day with a bright hue, a masterpiece!

  3. Thank you for reminding me God is ultimately in control of our lives that all the stressing about a situation doesn’t do anything one word from God changes everything, thank you and God bless you

  4. Your posting today is most helpful. I want to copy it off so I can read it over and over again. I am going to read the others that are also similar to it. I was introduced to your site by another HAC graduate. I didn’t know it existed. She sent one of your posts that spoke to her in a special way to all of her friends. I’m glad she did because I now read your site. I am thankful for it. It is very encouraging. I wish I could see your painting! I love old barns too.

  5. Worrying reminds me of a Mark Twain quote: “I’ve suffered many catastrophes in my life. Most of them never happened.” I enjoy your Monday thoughts. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Thank you for your lesson today. I am a pessimist. I try not to be, but I worry about things that at the end of the day never happened at all, just like you said. My husband is badly in need of back surgery and his insurance company has turned him down, saying he doesn’t it. He is in severe pain and can hardly walk, if he doesn’t need surgery I don’t know who does. Mrs. Hyles I needed your lesson for me today to put this situation in its proper place. I know God is in control and he will work out all the details we need concerning my husband health needs. Thank you for being just where I needed you when I needed you. I thank the Lord for the day you became my preacher’s wife back in 1974 and for the day in 1976 when you first called me friend. I am so honored to be able to call you friend What a blessing you are. Thank you, thank you. The load on my heart has been lifted a little. I covet your prayers for this situation. God bless you, and love ya lots. Have a great day. Mrs. Lee Ann Gray
